For the Embera Chami, the macaw is a very special bird. Not only is it beautiful but it represents vitality, joy and intelligence.
Much like parrots, the macaw is a social bird, living in flocks of up to 30 birds.
In Colombia, there are roughly 20 species of macaws, many of which are endangered.All of our jewelry designs are hand-made by the Embera-Chami indigenous women of Risaralda, Colombia.
Okama Guacamaya is made of glass beads in the colors: Balck, green, light blue, dark blue, white, red, yellow, orange.
