Four breasted purse, is an ancestral basket which was used and it is still used to this day to carry large and heavy items such as potatoes, fish and wood.
The Cuatro tetas baskets come in three different sizes, this one is the smallest size and in our contemporary times we use it as a hand-bag or a small basket.
These baskets are hand-made from a natural fiber called "iraca" this natural fiber comes from a palm tree, in order to crreate the ancestral designs, the community uses natural dyes to create contrast and allow the desing to show.
These are hand-made by women part of the EPERARA SIAPIDARA ethnic community of The Cuaca Region of Colombia. This group of women are victims of violence from armed groups in this region of Colombia. They have their own business making these baskets and this is how they provide for their families.
