Tugtu means flower in the Inga language spoken in the Colombian Putumayo region by the Inga people.
Tugtu
Tugtu Earrings are 100% hand-maded in Colombia by a group of indigneous women from Medellin and Putumayo.
Tugtu flowers are very special since they are the product of a collaboration of OLT with the indigneous artisans, using both traditional and contemporary practices.
Traditionally in the indigneous beading practices, flowers are woven flat and using a different pattern. Tugtu flowers are three-dimensional and have to be woven petal by petal to then connect them and form a flower, this is a more contemporary way of beading.
This collection is highly significant to us at OLT as well as the artisans we work alongside in Colombia. Every flower is made with so much love and dedication and it's inspired by the beauty and delicacy of real flowers.
We hope you join us into this experience of wearing hand-made accessories, supporting indigenous artisans and uplifting ancestral design.

I bought these in white and red, and both are beautifully made, the 3D shape makes them a real eye-catcher. The crafts(wo)manship and skill that goes into these is clearly visible.
Just be aware that they are much heavier than 'normal' earrings, which makes sense with them being made out of glass beads.
Bought these earrings in the purple color, and they are stunning and so realistic. As the other reviewer said, they are a tad heavier than regular studs but not terrible. Canāt wait to wear them this summer!
